Second EMERGE project online school

Second EMERGE project online school

We are excited to announce the Second EMERGE project online school. The focus of this year’s school is “Responsible Electronics“, featuring a blended training program that combines online and face-to-face intensive training sessions. The webinars will take place from 15th to 19th of April, 2024 and the on-site training will be held at UNINOVA from 24th to 28th of June, 2024.

The online school will be open and free-of-charge to undergraduates, MSc students, PhD students and researchers, requiring only a simple registration.

Registration Link.

Deadline to register: April 13th, 2024

The online school will feature presentations from leading scientific researchers both within and outside the EMERGE consortium, covering the following topics:

  1. Sustainable Printed Electronics;
  2. Piezo-Nanogenerators;
  3. Microelectronics & Geopolitics;
  4. Cellulose-based Electronics Printing;
  5. Printing Perovskite Solar Modules.

At the end of the school, students and researchers will participate in a short online quiz through Moodle based on the lectures. The 25 students and researchers with the highest scores will be selected for on-site training at the facilities of the Center of Excellence in Microelectronics and Optoelectronics Processes of the Institute for New Technologies’ Development (CEMOP/UNINOVA) from June 24th to 28th, 2024, in Caparica, Portugal.

The in-person school will provide selected students and researchers from the online school with the opportunity to network with others, work in a laboratory environment at UNINOVA, attend workshops on critical soft skills, and experience Portuguese culture and social life.

Students and researchers will be divided into working groups, with each group developing a specific experimental project on topics related to responsible electronics. On the last day of the school, each group will make a short presentation of their work, utilizing the scientific knowledge and soft skills acquired during the school.

Upon completion of the online and in-person school, students and researchers will receive a certificate outlining the learning outcomes and 3 ECTS credits.

More details regarding the program will be announced soon.

Do not miss this opportunity to join this event. Stay tuned!

💡Did you know that nanostructures on the wings of cicadas or dragonflies have an antibacterial effect? The wing surface, with its millions of tiny spikes, stresses bacteria and eventually leads to their deaths. JOR has transferred such structures into biobased resins in a high-throughput process, namely by R2R UV nanoimprinting. These antibacterial films can make...
